
Soňa Hudíková is a researcher at the Department of Classical Studies, Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic.
In the course of the project, Soňa worked on the transcription of manuscripts and on editions. She prepared the edition of several of Knín’s ethical preparations focusing on the ethics of human behaviour.
She specialises in medieval rhetoric, especially ars dictaminis, the art of writing a letter. Her research interests include the exploration of handbooks and exemplary letters, and the application of medieval rules to those dictamina. Soňa is interested in the way handbooks were composed and in the medieval principles of written communication. It fascinates her to see how many regulations medieval writers had to follow in order to write their letters correctly and in a way that was not offensive to the recipients.
Soňa participated in the preparation of editions of Jan Hus’ Soňa participated in the preparation of editions of Jan Hus’ work (Magister Iohannis Hus: Constantiensia, Brepols 2016), and took part in the creation of an encyclopaedia of humanist authors of Czech origin (Companion to Central and Eastern European Humanism: The Czech Lands, Walter de Gruyter 2020).
