Karel Dobiáš

Karel Dobiáš is a doctoral student of medieval Latin language and literature at Masaryk University in Brno and Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (cotutelle).


In the course of the project Karel took part in the preparation of transcription of Knín’s quodlibet handbook and worked on editions of the arguments prepared by the quodlibetarius focusing on logic. He also analysed one quodlibetal question on medical astrology.

His research interests include medieval charters of Nicolaus of Riesenburg, Bishop of Olomouc, and Simon of Tišnov’s defense of John Wycliffe. He is currently researching the late medieval and early modern period fight books (Fechtbücher) written in Latin.
